Chapter 20 - Shuiyang's Identity, Xingxiu Token

“Greetings, Lord Feng Ang!”

The Five Deities bowed uniformly to Lord Feng Ang.

Feng Ang’s slender hand, holding a jade cup, paused. His lowered eyes flickered slightly, and he cast a cold gaze at the Five Deities.

Seeing there was no further action from the Five Deities, he frowned, a trace of displeasure crossing his face.

“Did you not see my wife?”

Opposite him, Bai Qian was surprised; she hadn’t expected him to be so protective.

The Five Deities finally reacted and turned to bow to Bai Qian.

“Greetings, Lord Xijing!”

Although Shuiyang’s face remained calm, she was secretly laughing wildly inside, “Who would have thought that Feng Ang is also a meticulous person? Bai Qian, Bai Qian, how will you handle this overwhelming love?”

“It seems that when I’m not around, you treat Lord Xijing very casually.”

Feng Ang set down his teacup, exuding an aura that warned others to keep their distance. The Five Deities were so shocked that they knelt in unison.

“Forgive us, Lord!”

Bai Qian nonchalantly glanced at Shuiyang in the corner. Seeing her twitching mouth, seemingly wanting to laugh but holding back, a hint of amusement rose in her heart.

“Feng Ang, don’t scare them. After all, they are the Five Deities of the First Heaven; they deserve some respect. Human Deity, I’ve heard that your brewed immortal wine is even better than the finest nectar. Is there any chance I might have the pleasure of tasting it?”

Shuiyang, who was suddenly called out, did not react immediately. When she heard Bai Qian’s words, she felt uneasy. She looked up intending to glare at her but was met with the gazes of everyone else, along with Feng Ang’s oppressive stare. Biting back her irritation, Shuiyang could only force a smile.

“Since Lord Xijing is interested in my immortal brew, how could I be stingy?”

“Let’s have ‘Youxian’ then!”

Before Shuiyang could finish her sentence, Bai Qian shamelessly asked for her favorite wine.

Suppressing her anger, Shuiyang managed to produce a smile and looked at the triumphant Bai Qian.

“Don’t go too far!”

“Every time I ask you, you never give it to me.”

“You’re just taking advantage of your position!”

“For a taste of your ‘Youxian’, it’s worth it!”

Bai Qian and Shuiyang exchanged voice-transmitting glances. The onlookers found the atmosphere somewhat strange.

“Human Deity, do you have any objections?” Feng Ang asked impatiently when he saw that Shuiyang hadn’t made a move.

“Of course not!” No matter how displeased Shuiyang was, she could only smile while secretly cursing in her heart, “Bai Qian, you’re such a dog!”

With a wave of her hand, a jug of wine appeared in front of Bai Qian. Not holding back, Bai Qian drank directly from the jug, thoroughly enjoying herself.

Seeing the playful glint in Bai Qian’s eyes, Feng Ang was very pleased.

Shuiyang, however, cursed Bai Qian thoroughly in her heart.

“Alright, the Five Deities shall proceed to the Voidland Heavens. I’ll join you shortly.”

“Yes!”

Everyone left, leaving only Shuiyang behind. Feng Ang was puzzled, “Human Deity, is there something else?”

Shuiyang’s face darkened, her eyes glared fiercely at Bai Qian, “Dog! Spit out the wine!”

Without another word, she charged at Bai Qian. Sensing danger, Bai Qian teleported to the Lanshan Tree and waved the jug triumphantly, “You brought it out yourself, so now it’s mine.” She even stuck out her tongue at Shuiyang.

Shuiyang was furious, “Bai Qian, you better stay put. I swear I’ll tear you apart today!”

Bai Qian fled, Shuiyang chased. Feng Ang found himself momentarily at a loss watching the scene unfold.

The bells on Bai Qian’s ankle rang loudly throughout Zipei Hall.

Half an hour later.

Both women were exhausted, collapsing onto the ground, leaning against each other.

“You didn’t even leave me a sip, you dog!”

“Well, it’s all gone now. There’s no point in fighting over it!”

By then, Feng Ang had brewed some tea, “Tired? Come and have some tea.”

The two scrambled over, and Bai Qian snatched the teapot from Feng Ang, tilting her head back to drink. Shuiyang quickly grabbed it, “Save me some!”

Feng Ang shook his head helplessly, realizing they were indeed quite close.

Once they’d rested, the three finally sat down to chat calmly.

“To drink tea personally brewed by Lord Feng Ang, my life as a minor immortal is complete,” Shuiyang fawningly complimented him.

Bai Qian rolled her eyes at her, “I’ve made you tea so many times, but I’ve never heard a kind word from you.”

Shuiyang chuckled, “If you could brew tea without burning the leaves, I’d thank you!”

“Next time, I’ll steal from your wine cellar!”

“Don’t you dare! Giving you a jug of ‘Youxian’ is a big deal. Don’t even think about getting any more from me after this.”

“I never thought that the Human Deity would have such a personality. It seems you and Qian’er really hit it off,” Feng Ang mused.

Bai Qian and Shuiyang exchanged disdainful glances.

Curious, Shuiyang asked, “Lord Feng Ang, what kind of personality do you think I should have?”

“At first glance, I saw the Human Deity in the corner. Her purple attire was elegant, her demeanor was cool and distant—someone who seemed reserved and unapproachable. But now…”

“Ah! You were right about her. In the First Heaven, she’s known for her aloofness and pride. Most people in the Heavenly Realm don’t associate with her,” Bai Qian introduced Shuiyang smugly.

Shuiyang refused to even look at her, “That’s only because the Heavenly Realm is so boring. I don’t like staying there.”

“Little Shuiyang, I really don’t understand what’s so great about the Mortal Realm. You’re always going there every few days.”

“I’ve told you, the Mortal Realm is vibrant and full of life. Everyone has emotions, thrilling stories, and the courage to love and hate fiercely. I always want to take you there to have some fun, but you prefer to stay cooped up in this cold Zipei Hall. How dull!”

“I think you’ve had enough of being a Deity and want to be a human!”

“There’s nothing wrong with being human. If I had the chance, I’d really like to be one in my next life.”

“Yeah, right.”

Feng Ang laughed, “It seems like you two know each other very well.”

“We don’t!”

“Never met!”

Feng Ang chuckled.

Shuiyang said, “Actually, my teacher is Lord Baizhi!”

“What?” Feng Ang was shocked.

“I’ve never heard that Bai Zhi had any students.”

“That’s because very few people know about me. Even Bai Qian didn’t know at first.”

Bai Qian nodded, “That’s right. When she first came to me claiming to be my ‘daddy’s’ student, I didn’t believe her either.”

Feng Ang asked curiously, “Why did you keep it a secret?”

“It’s not that I kept it a secret; my teacher didn’t allow me to disclose our relationship.”

Feng Ang frowned, unable to make sense of it.

“Since Lord Feng Ang has returned, it’s time to return something to its rightful owner.”

Shuiyang suddenly became serious, catching Bai Qian off guard.

With a wave of her hand over the table, a token appeared. Feng Ang and Bai Qian’s eyes widened in astonishment: “The Xingxiu Token!”

“How did the Xingxiu Token end up in your possession?”

Bai Qian was quite agitated.

Shuiyang sighed, “My teacher gave it to me.”

“The day before my teacher left for Gaoshang Land to quell the chaos, he visited me. He told me that he might not return from that battle. He placed a spell on me so that if he were to perish, the Xingxiu Token would automatically come into my possession. He instructed me to hand it over to you at the right time,” Shuiyang explained.

“Who would’ve thought that the Xingxiu Token, missing since Lord Baizhi and his wife perished in that great war, would end up in your hands?” Lord Feng Ang remarked.

Bai Qian took the Xingxiu Token in her hand, asking, “Why didn’t you give it to me earlier?”

“If I had given it to you earlier, could you have kept it safe in the First Heaven? Keeping it with you would have been far more dangerous than keeping it with me!” Shuiyang retorted.

Bai Qian rolled her eyes, “Are you questioning my abilities?”

Shuiyang didn’t mince words, “Do you even have any abilities?”

Bai Qian was left speechless.

“Fortunately, now that Lord Feng Ang has returned, he can protect you. It’s much safer to give the Xingxiu Token to you now,” Shuiyang reasoned.

Lord Feng Ang assured, “Human Deity, rest assured, I will protect Qian’er well. Nothing will happen to her.”

“Good! Remember your promise. If anything happens to Qian’er, I will hold you accountable!” Shuiyang warned.

Hearing their overly protective words, Bai Qian shivered, “Could you two stop saying all these protective words about me right in front of me?”

Shuiyang snapped her fingers, and a chessboard appeared on the table, “How about a couple of games?”

Bai Qian knew Shuiyang was once again challenging her. Although she lost every time, Bai Qian always came back for more, undeterred.

“Who’s afraid of who? Let’s go!”

“I’ll go first!” Shuiyang made the first move with no hesitation, placing a white jade piece in the center.

“Starting off so aggressively, be careful not to get burned,” Bai Qian warned, as she flicked her fingers to place a translucent black piece next to the white one.

Shuiyang glanced at the towering, crimson Lanshan Tree and placed another piece, “I hadn’t noticed that this Lanshan Tree, which hasn’t bloomed or grown leaves for millennia, has come back to life.”

“I’ve tended to this Lanshan Tree for ten thousand years. After my parents passed away, it withered, never to bloom again. But ever since he came, it’s been flourishing with red leaves, and even Night Bloomers have blossomed.” Bai Qian’s tone was tinged with jealousy.

Feng Ang quickly tried to placate her, “If you like it, I can ensure it remains lush and full of red leaves every day, always by your side.”

Shuiyang shivered at the sentimentality, “How nauseating!”

The tension on the chessboard was palpable, but Shuiyang always managed a comeback in the clutch moments.

“By the way, I heard that Chengqi sent people to hunt you down?” Shuiyang asked Bai Qian.

Bai Qian looked puzzled, “Where did you hear that?”

“It’s not widely known, only a few are aware of it,” Shuiyang responded.

“He pursued me because he discovered that I had the Xingxiu Token. He wants the token,” Bai Qian explained.

“But why? Chengqi is a deity. Why would he be interested in the Xingxiu Token?” Lord Feng Ang felt something was off.

Shuiyang shook her head, “I don’t know. After discovering that I had the token, he told me that keeping it would put me in danger. I know he meant me no harm, just concern. I refused to give it to him, which led to him sending people after me. If he really wanted to kill me, would I still be sitting here? Honestly, it’s just a bit of our own little skirmish.”

“No wonder this matter didn’t cause a big stir. But what does Chengqi want with the Xingxiu Token anyway?” Bai Qian seized a critical spot on the chessboard.

Seeing Bai Qian’s confident expression, Shuiyang couldn’t help but chuckle. With a gentle placement of a single piece, Bai Qian’s entire strategy crumbled.

“I’ve won.”

Bai Qian puffed her cheeks in frustration, “That doesn’t count. One more game! I don’t believe it!”

“Even ten games wouldn’t guarantee you a single win,” Shuiyang teased.

Her words only fired up Bai Qian’s competitive spirit, “I don’t believe it! Let’s go again!”

Shuiyang sighed but immediately shifted the topic, “By the way, now that Lord Feng Ang has returned, aren’t you going back to the Third Heaven?”

Bai Qian was taken aback. She turned to Feng Ang, asking, “Do we have to go back?”

Feng Ang smiled charmingly, his eyes full of allure, “Of course not,” he replied in a sweet, tender tone.

At that moment, Shuiyang felt like the third wheel.

“Alright then, I’ll be off.”

But she was promptly called back by Lord Feng Ang, “No, Human Deity and I will go together.”

Opening his palm, two pieces of jade appeared. These pieces could merge into one. Lord Feng Ang handed one piece to Bai Qian, “This is Heart-Linked Jade. With it, I can always know your location and whether you are in danger. I can also see the surroundings of where you are, and you can do the same for me.”

Bai Qian hesitated for a moment but eventually accepted it.

Seeing the two of them being all lovey-dovey, Shuiyang felt like poking her own eyes out.

“Lord Feng Ang, can we go now?” Shuiyang urged. The next moment, she sensed something amiss in the Mortal Realm, “Something’s wrong!”

Bai Qian asked, “What happened?”

“Something’s happened in the Mortal Realm!” Shuiyang said, clearly anxious, and immediately flew towards the Mortal Realm.

Seeing Shuiyang so distressed, Bai Qian knew something serious must be happening. Lord Feng Ang, aware of Bai Qian’s concern, said, “I’ll go have a look too.”

With Bai Qian’s consent, he turned and disappeared.

Meanwhile, the Four Deities in the Voidland Heavens noticed two streaks of divine light swiftly heading towards the Mortal Realm. They couldn’t guess what was happening.

Shi Zhao was the first to speculate, “Could it be something in the Mortal Realm…?”

Without another word, he flew towards the Mortal Realm.

“Shi Zhao!”

“Shi Zhao!”

The Three Deities tried to stop him, but Chengqi, frowning with concern, instructed, “You all go check it out too. Don’t let them cause any trouble.”

Zhen Yin and Li Yan hurried after Shi Zhao, while Chengqi immediately activated the water mirror to check Shuiyang’s current location.
