Chapter 36 - Seeking the Truth

Shuiyang and Shi Zhao walked towards the remaining disciples of Cloud Academy. After the events reflected in the Memory Reflecting Mirror, most of the disciples knew who they were.

The two stopped in front of the corpses of Gong Xue and Mu Xian.

Gong Xue and Mu Xian had just exhausted their divine power in a desperate battle against Zhuo Mu. They were both prominent figures in the Mortal Realm, with potential for Immortal Status. With proper cultivation, they could have become Deities one day. Unexpectedly…

Shuiyang looked around. Shu Ran and four others stood by, their faces filled with sorrow.

Next to Gong Xue’s body, two men squatted, their expressions vacant and dazed.

They were An Wanggui and An Cheyan.

Shuiyang turned and gazed into the distance. The once idyllic landscape shown in the Memory Reflecting Mirror had turned into ruins in an instant.

Shuiyang looked at Shi Zhao. Shi Zhao nodded and rose into the air. His arms waved, and countless sparkling lights turned into flying dust scattering everywhere. With a loud noise, the broken walls and scorched earth gradually returned to their original state, and the collapsed, disordered trees regrew.

In just a short time, Cloud Academy was restored to its former glory. The fleeing spirit beasts and birds returned.

The sky cleared, revealing colorful clouds again. Flowing spiritual energy was visible to the naked eye.

With a gentle wave of her pale hand, Shuiyang healed the severely injured disciples. All the wounds on their bodies regenerated and healed.

Shuiyang and Shi Zhao whispered an apology to An Wanggui and An Cheyan.

“Sorry, even though we are deities, this is all we can do. We can’t bring the dead back to life. But rest assured, as Human Deities, we will keep our promise and give Cloud Academy a satisfactory answer. Zhuo Mu will pay with his life.”

An Wanggui’s hoarse voice sounded low: “Even if he is a deity?”

“Even if he is a deity!”

An Wanggui stood up, his dark eyes staring directly at Shuiyang. The stubbornness and resentment in his gaze seemed like a flood about to burst.

“Fine, I believe you! Please inform us of the final outcome.”

Shuiyang nodded and then looked at the lying bodies of Gong Xue and Mu Xian: “Believe it. One day, the departed will reunite.”

An Wanggui thought Shuiyang was comforting him and sincerely thanked her: “Thank you.”

Shuiyang and Shi Zhao left Cloud Academy. Shi Zhao asked, “Where to?”

“Zipei Hall.”

It seemed as if Bai Qian had anticipated Shuiyang’s arrival; she had already brewed tea, her delicate jade fingers skillfully handling the teapot, with steam dancing in the porcelain cups.

The Heart-Linked Jade, which had flown back from the Third Heaven, hung at her waist.

Shuiyang walked in, her expression rather somber, with Shi Zhao following closely behind.

Shuiyang picked up a cup of tea and drank it in one gulp. It seemed less about savoring the tea and more about quenching the fire in her heart.

Bai Qian poured her another cup. “Feeling uneasy?”

Shuiyang replied coldly, “Indeed, I am.”

“If you’re uneasy, why didn’t you go with Feng Ang and the others to capture Zhuo Mu? Why come to me instead?” Bai Qian inquired.

Shuiyang picked up the freshly poured hot tea, her red lips barely touching the scalding liquid before she quickly withdrew and irritably set the cup back on the table.

Frowning, Shuiyang said, “I feel something is off.”

“Yes, I also feel that way.” Bai Qian propped her elbows on the table, resting her chin in her hands, her large eyes shimmering like water as she quietly gazed at Shuiyang.

Seeing Bai Qian’s demeanor, Shuiyang grew anxious. “You… did you figure something out?”

Bai Qian offered a hint. “Don’t you find it odd? Why was Zhuo Mu so eager to expose himself?”

Shuiyang too found it strange. Zhuo Mu’s urgency seemed to be hiding something…

“The Memory Reflecting Mirror!” Shuiyang suddenly had an epiphany.

Bai Qian nodded approvingly. “It seems there’s an unspeakable secret in that memory.”

“Then we need to explore that memory again.”

“Here?” Bai Qian asked curiously. “But isn’t the Memory Reflecting Mirror shattered? And Gong Xue’s body isn’t here.”

“Have you forgotten? I am a Human Deity, and I have a spell called the Void Breaking Technique!”

The Void Breaking Technique could tear through the boundaries of time, revealing events from any point in time.

Shuiyang formed a spell gesture with her hands. “Harmony exists in separation, interdependence of Yin and Yang, sorrow in parting, joy in reunion, a lifetime’s dream!”

With the incantation complete, the spiritual light shimmered. After a moment of misty whiteness, the scene before them returned to Cloud Academy.

Gong Xue pulled Mu Xian to the Moonrise.

Wei Xian handed a packet of medicine to An Wanggui. After expressing his thanks, An Wanggui rode a cloud away from the Moonrise.

Gong Xue and Mu Xian had just entered, narrowly missing An Wanggui.

“Elder Wei Xian!”

Gong Xue called out urgently and excitedly.

Elder Wei saw Gong Xue and Mu Xian and was somewhat surprised. While they hadn’t spoken before, he had observed them from afar during the Grand Competition.

“So it’s little Gong Xue and little Ren Yue! What brings you here? Are you perhaps interested in Medical Arts?”

Gong Xue followed his lead: “Yes, yes, Elder Wei Xian, we are indeed interested in alchemical pills. We have some questions we wish to ask you.”

Wei Xian was more than happy to oblige, as he was eager to win over disciples from An Xuqian.

“Go ahead, ask away. I will teach you.”

Humbly, Gong Xue inquired, “Elder Wei, I wanted to ask, are there any pills that nourish the deity soul?”

“Nourish the deity soul?”

Wei Xian stood up and walked over to the desk, rifling through a pile of books. After searching for a while, he finally found a book titled “Compendium of Alchemical Pills”. He opened it to a page and exclaimed, “Found it.”

He handed the book to Gong Xue.

On the page, the words “Soul Nourishing Pill” were prominently displayed, with detailed instructions on the formula below.

Wei Xian explained, “This Soul Nourishing Pill can indeed nourish the deity soul, though the crafting method is somewhat complex. However, the ingredients are not hard to find.”

Gong Xue’s eyes sparkled with excitement. Without hesitation, she said, “I want to learn!”

Seeing her eagerness, Wei Xian was naturally willing to teach.

Wei Xian performed a demonstration. A crystalline, translucent pill flew out of the furnace and landed perfectly in his hand, clearly a high-quality product.

Full of confidence, Gong Xue began her attempt, placing the ingredients into the furnace just as Wei Xian had shown.

Boom!

A loud explosion was followed by thick black smoke billowing out of the Alchemy Room.

“Fire! Put out the fire!”

Moments later, numerous buckets of water were poured over the room. Gong Xue and Mu Xian emerged, faces and bodies covered in soot, drenched from head to toe.

Wei Xian walked out afterward and stood on the steps of the Alchemy Room, closing his eyes slowly. The veins on his forehead bulged as he took a moment. Finally, he sighed, “Little Gong Xue, it seems Medical Arts are not suited for you. You should go.”

Bang!

The door to the Alchemy Room slammed shut. Disciples around them couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of the two covered in soot, and their murmurs grew louder.

“Elder Wei Xian is usually so mild-tempered; it’s the first time I’ve seen him turn someone away.”

“It seems he’s truly angry.”

“Ren Yue and Gong Xue must be incredibly talented to have made the ever-gentle Elder Wei Xian lose his temper, hahaha…”

Mu Xian and Gong Xue looked at each other, hardly presentable. Gong Xue hid her face behind the “Compendium of Alchemical Pills” she held in her hand.

Senior brothers and sisters naturally offered words of comfort: “Ren Yue, Gong Xue, don’t be discouraged. It’s completely normal to fail the first time.”

“Indeed, little junior sister, I believe with more practice, you can do it.”

Gong Xue smiled politely, then quickly dragged Mu Xian away.
