Chapter 50 - Sun and Moon Chess
Mirroring Heaven and Earth1.
Li Yan and the others had returned and were reporting their findings to Chengqi.
Shuiyang immediately asked Lord Feng Ang, “Did you manage to catch Zhuo Mu?”
Feng Ang shook his head, “He got away.”
“That’s bad!”
Shuiyang’s face grew serious.
Li Yan inquired, “Did something happen?”
Shuiyang told everyone what she had discovered using the Void Breaking Technique.
Everyone’s expressions turned grave.
“White Qian has already reported this to Sovereign Xiangti, but I feel this matter is far from simple,” Shuiyang said.
“Sovereign Xiangti’s Holy Order! Deity of the First Heaven! Lord Feng Ang! Lord Xijing! Proceed to the Third Heaven for a meeting!”
A beam of holy light descended from the sky, and a gold-clad Deity emissary arrived within it to deliver the decree.
Everyone in the First Heaven was drawn to the spectacle and gazed towards the holy light.
Chengqi’s brow furrowed as a strong sense of unease spread in his heart.
Chengqi gave instructions to the Four Deities and then departed for the Third Heaven with Bai Qian and Feng Ang.
This meeting was bound to last a while. The last time the gods convened in the Third Heaven was during the Gaoshang Land uprising when Lord Xingxiu fought against it.
It seemed the events of those years were about to replay themselves.
Shuiyang looked as usual at the vast sky, but her hollow eyes seemed filled with sorrow.
Shi Zhao saw her in a daze and called out, “Shuiyang!”
Shuiyang turned to him, and he asked, “Are you still worried?”
Shuiyang propped her chin up, “I’m a bit uneasy.”
“Don’t worry, if the sky falls, Chengqi will be there to hold it up. If he can’t, we’ll step in.”
“I’m just afraid that even we won’t be able to handle it!” Shuiyang mumbled, but Shi Zhao didn’t quite catch it, “What?”
Shuiyang shook her head, “Nothing. By the way, is Bai Qian coming back? I’m eager to return to the Mortal Realm. Do they really think I’m a house-sitter?”
Shi Zhao laughed, “Don’t you usually love staying here? Besides, with Bai Qian gone, you’re in charge.”
“I’m in charge? If she comes back and finds her palace in chaos, she’ll fight me to the death! The Mortal Realm is more comfortable!”
“By the way, regarding the Mortal Realm, has the situation at Cloud Academy been resolved?”
Shuiyang nodded and said, “It’s been resolved. I explained everything to the An Brothers and promised that Zhuo Mu would face justice to bring peace to the spirits of the deceased.”
“Cloud Academy is one of the top cultivation sects in the Mortal Realm; it can’t be left to decline.”
Shuiyang stood and gazed wistfully at the clouds, “I believe the An Brothers are capable and responsible; they’ll manage well. As for Gong Xue…”
Shi Zhao walked to her side and joked, “I heard you went to the Ximan Realm a few days ago to find Li Yan?”
“You can’t hide anything from me,” Shuiyang replied straightforwardly.
She had taken the trouble to investigate Gong Xue and Mu Xian and discovered that they still had a chance at reincarnation, showing them some mercy.
“And what about Yiqu Liushang?” Shi Zhao asked.
Cloud Academy had someone to take over, but what about Yiqu Liushang? The Heavenly Realm had its hands full and no time to address such minor issues. Shuiyang smiled lightly and said, “Wait and see. Someone will take care of it.”
Five days passed in a flash, and Chengqi and Bai Qian returned from the Third Heaven.
Chengqi immediately dispatched a squad of heavenly soldiers to capture the fugitive Zhuo Mu, with word that the Second Heaven and Third Heaven had also sent people for the task.
These past few days, Chengqi had been busy with this matter. After about half a month, it was reported that Zhuo Mu had been slain in the Ximan Realm at Jinmu Platform.
However, the whereabouts of the Zixuan Jade were not discovered on Zhuo Mu’s body. The gods speculated that he had handed it off to someone else.
It was found that the list within the Zixuan Jade contained names of individuals colluding with the Devil Clan, including mortals, demons, ghosts, and even deities. Among these deities were those of exalted status and immense power.
If even someone like Zhuo Mu defected to the Devil Clan, it was unimaginable how many such deities there might be in the Heavenly Realm!
After Zhuo Mu’s death, the three realms concealed the news, and Sovereign Xiangti ordered the case closed. Secret investigations, however, continued to deceive those with ulterior motives.
Reluctant to remain in the Heavenly Realm with nothing to contribute, Shuiyang went to bid farewell to Bai Qian and return to the Mortal Realm.
“This commotion is unprecedented; Lord Feng Ang hasn’t returned.”
“Did Sovereign Xiangti send him to investigate the matter?”
Shuiyang raised her teacup, taking a sip of tea.
“Yes, this matter is quite tricky. I’ve heard that the Heavenly Realm is planning to reconvene the Sun and Moon Chess!” Bai Qian decided not to hide anything from Shuiyang, knowing that even if she didn’t say it, Shuiyang would likely have guessed the significance.
“The Sun and Moon Chess!” Shuiyang was somewhat surprised. She knew Sovereign Xiangti would not let the matter rest, but she hadn’t expected they would resort to using the Sun and Moon Chess.
The establishment of the Sun and Moon Chess dates back billions of years. At that time, there were four realms, not the current three realms.
Back then, the Devil Realm was also one of the realms and coexisted peacefully with the other three realms.
The Sun and Moon Chess was formed through joint selections from the First Heaven to the Third Heaven, with talents from all four realms participating. However, only six individuals were ultimately chosen, all of whom were from the Devil Clan.
When the Devil Clan began their attempts to attack the three realms, the six members of the Sun and Moon Chess, being from the Devil Clan, were initially viewed with suspicion by the inhabitants of the three realms. Yet, surprisingly, the six members ended up betraying their own clan and aiding the three realms.
The Devil Clan despised them intensely, but the Sun and Moon Chess came to be accepted as the only six individuals from the Devil Clan trusted by the three realms.
When asked why they chose to assist the three realms instead of their own clan, they responded, “Despite being from the Devil Clan, we were treated harshly and even had our loved ones murdered by them. We harbor deep resentment towards our clan and refuse to stand with them!”
Since then, the six members of the Sun and Moon Chess remained in the Heavenly Realm, serving it diligently. However, a thousand years ago, for reasons unknown, they disbanded. The Sun and Moon Chess scattered, their immortal powers were revoked, and they disappeared without a trace.
