Chinese Knot

The Chinese Knot is a handcrafted art form originating from the ancient practice of tying knots to record events, flourishing in the Tang and Song dynasties and reaching its peak in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Made from a single silk thread, it emphasizes symmetry, uniformity, and consistency, with each knot expressing emotion and conveying meaning, where every design has significance, and every meaning is auspicious. The history of the Chinese Knot dates back to the Paleolithic era when knots were used for recording events and numbers. Over time, it evolved into an aesthetic art form. During the Zhou Dynasty, Chinese Knots were commonly used to adorn jade ornaments, and in the Warring States period, they appeared on bronze vessels. It wasn’t until the Qing Dynasty that Chinese Knots became a widely popular folk art.
