Purple Heaven Nation(朱紫国):
In Chinese, it is pronounced as: zhū zǐ guó,Written as:

Purple Heaven Nation refers to a country that Tang Seng and his disciples—Tang Xuanzang, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing—pass through on their pilgrimage in “Journey to the West,” a novel from the Ming dynasty by Wu Cheng’en, specifically in Chapter Sixty-Eight.
Years ago, during the Dragon Boat Festival, the King and Queen of Purple Heaven Nation, Empress of Golden Sacred Palace, were in the imperial garden unwrapping zongzi, drinking wine, and watching dragon boat races when suddenly a gust of wind arose. It was the spirit of Xie Zhi from Qilin Mountain coming to abduct the Empress to make her his cave-wife. After the Empress was taken, the King fell ill and could not recover, becoming bedridden and unable to govern. When Tang Seng and his disciples arrived in Purple Heaven Nation, the King, unable to heal from his prolonged illness and govern, had no choice but to issue a royal decree to recruit sages from all over, both domestically and internationally, to cure his ailment. The King stated that if his illness could be slightly cured, he would even be willing to divide the state with them.
Sun Wukong took down the royal decree and diagnosed the King with symptoms of central deficiency and heart pain, sweating and numb muscles, blocked meridians, and persistent vexation and cold; the illness was caused by shock and sorrow, known as “the syndrome of the two birds losing their flock.” The King joyfully acknowledged, “Indeed, it is this illness! Please bring the medicine from outside.” The officials of Purple Heaven Nation did not understand what “the syndrome of the two birds losing their flock” meant, but Sun Wukong pointed out that the King’s illness stemmed from the longing caused by separation.
Wukong first treated the external symptoms. He instructed the royal physicians of Purple Heaven Nation to prepare the medicine and send it to their quarters. Later, in the silent night when the streets were empty and all was quiet, Sun Wukong prepared the medicine. He had Eight Precepts grind a dose of rhubarb into fine powder; Sha Wujing was tasked with obtaining castor beans, peeling them, removing the membrane, pounding out the oil, and grinding them into fine powder, then scraping half a bowl of pot ash, and mixing in a little less than half a bowl of horse urine to form three walnut-sized pills. Rhubarb clears phlegm and smooths the flow of qi, relieving the body of internal cold and heat; castor beans break obstructions and soothe the intestines, managing heart swelling and bloating; pot ash adjusts all ailments; and the urine of the dragon horse is even more miraculous, turning fish into dragons and grass into lingzhi mushrooms. This truly was “the right medicine for the symptoms.” Before taking the medicine, it was required to be taken with Rootless Water as a medicinal guide in the form of “dark gold pills.” Summoning the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea, Ao Guang, his spit transformed into sweet dew, serving as the medicinal guide—Rootless Water. This was no ordinary guide. After the King swallowed the dark gold pills, he expelled filthy phlegm and saliva, including clumps of sticky rice, removing the root of the illness, easing his chest and harmonizing his blood and qi, gradually revitalizing his spirit and strengthening his legs.
Wukong then treated the internal issues. At the thanksgiving banquet, the Traveler further inquired about what had disturbed the King, discovered the root cause of his illness, and then went to subdue the evil spirits and rescue the Empress of Golden Sacred Palace. First, he repelled the vanguard of the adversary, Sai Taizui, and learned about the evil spirit’s situation. Then, he killed the evil spirit’s confidants, transformed into “coming and going,” sneaked into the demon cave, and assessed the reality of the evil spirits. He then transformed into Chun Jiao, the personal maid of the Empress of Golden Sacred Palace, stole the evil spirit’s treasure, the Purple Gold Bell, and Guanyin Bodhisattva sprinkled sweet dew to extinguish a great fire, stating that this monster was her mount, the Golden-Furred Hound. Ultimately, the demon was defeated and the Empress was rescued. With this, the King of Purple Heaven Nation was “completely cured.”
