In Chinese, it is pronounced as: fǎ qì,Written as:

Ritual Implements, also known as Buddhist Instruments, Taoist Instruments, Buddhist Tools, Ritual Tools, or Taoist Tools, broadly refer to any equipment used within religious temples for rituals such as prayers, dharma practice, offerings, and religious ceremonies. This category also includes items carried by religious followers, such as prayer beads, and even a Buddhist monk’s walking stick used for ascetic practices. More generally, any tool used by practitioners or those possessing special effects can be termed Ritual Implements.
The variety of Ritual Implements is vast, and their purposes, designs, and sizes vary greatly. Consequently, many variations have emerged across different times and circumstances. Even Ritual Implements with the same name can differ significantly in form, material, and manufacturing methods depending on the era, country, or even the religious sect. In the artistry of religious crafts, Ritual Implements often represent the quintessence.
The types of Ritual Implements are numerous, each differing in use, size, and shape; even those with the same name may vary entirely in form due to differences in materials used, craftsmanship, or between sects and eras. Religious Ritual Implements are essentially the tools for practicing the path of Buddha and the etiquette and lifestyle of Buddha dharma, merging seamlessly with spiritual practice. Therefore, besides their high value in Buddhist artistic craftsmanship, the most crucial aspect for practitioners is to comprehend the inner spirit of the Ritual Implements. They are used in the practice of Buddha dharma to achieve a complete Buddhist path, which is the true essence these implements are meant to convey.
Furthermore, the Ritual Implements used by practitioners are diverse and intricate, but since most practitioners are religious individuals, their implements are primarily religious in nature, such as the wooden fish, fly whisk, and Dharma sword.
