Stone Lion

Stone Lions are stone-carved representations of lions, often used for decorative and protective purposes. In traditional Chinese culture, stone lions are typically placed as a pair on either side of entrances to palaces, temples, bridges, pagodas, mansions, gardens, and tombs, symbolizing majesty and auspiciousness. The history of stone lions can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty, with the earliest existing stone lions found before the tomb of Gao Yi from that period. These stone lions possess not only artistic value but also serve as symbols of protection and decoration. In modern times, stone lions continue to be widely used in various architectural settings, remaining an important component of traditional culture.
