River God(河神):

The River God, also known as He Bo, commonly refers to the God of Water of the Yellow River. It is one of the most influential river deities in Chinese folklore. After the establishment of the Yin Dynasty, the worship of the River God was given great importance, with the construction of temples dedicated to the River God. During the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, local river worship was particularly active.
In Chinese mythology and legends, some of the most renowned River Gods include:
He Bo: He is typically considered the Immortal of the Yellow River. He Bo was believed in ancient times to control the Yellow River, managing floods and water-related disasters. In legends, He Bo is sometimes depicted as a humanoid Immortal, while other times he is described as having the form of a loong.
Luo Shen: The Goddess of the Luo River, her most famous portrayal comes from Cao Zhi’s “Rhapsody on the Luo Goddess.” Luo Shen is depicted as a beautiful and kind goddess who protects the Luo River and the people around it.
In addition to these mythological river deities, modern culture also includes works themed around the “River God.” For example, the Chinese television series “River God,” adapted from Tianxia Bachang’s novel “River God: Ghost Water Guai Talk,” tells the story of a River God from Tianjin in the Republic of China era who hunts and subdues Guai.
