Yellowbrow(黄眉怪):
In Chinese, it is pronounced as: huáng méi guài,Written as:

Self-proclaimed as the Elder Buddha Yellowbrow, a character in the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West.”
Originally a servant boy for the East Coming Buddha, tasked with ringing the bell, Yellowbrow took advantage of Maitreya Buddha’s departure to a meeting with the Primeval Lord of Heaven and stole Maitreya’s precious magical implement, descending to the mortal realm as a Yaoguai. Disguising himself as a Buddha, he established a false temple in Minor Western Heaven called the Minor Thunder Sound Temple, intending to trap and kill Tang Seng and his disciples, and seize their travel documents, embroidered kasaya, and the Purple Gold Bowl, aiming to undertake the journey to the Western Heaven himself. He wielded one of Maitreya Buddha’s magical implements called the “Species Bag,” which possessed immense power capable of containing many Immortals. Although Sun Wukong enlisted the help of numerous Immortals, they were all subdued by Yellowbrow using this bag. When all seemed lost, the East Coming Buddha personally arrived at the scene and, together with Sun Wukong, finally subdued this Yaoguai, rescuing Tang Seng and all the Immortals.
Relying on the possession of several of Maitreya Buddha’s magical implements, Yellowbrow acted lawlessly and did whatever he pleased. His audacity is rarely seen among the Yaoguai in “Journey to the West.” Tathagata Buddha, the supreme deity of the Three Realms, holds immense power and magical prowess. Yet, Yellowbrow not only dared to forge a Minor Thunder Sound Temple in the name of Tathagata but also impersonated the Buddha himself, reaching an unprecedented level of reckless audacity.
Yellowbrow was cunning and deceitful, skilled in exploiting human psychology to achieve his deceptive ends. He capitalized on Tang Seng’s blind piety, who would worship upon seeing temples and bow before Buddha statues, by creating a false Minor Thunder Sound Temple and capturing Tang Seng and his companions. Knowing Sun Wukong’s vast supernatural powers and that tactics alone would not prevail against him, Yellowbrow took the initiative by pretending to be the Buddha and scolding Wukong, eventually trapping him inside the Golden Cymbal.
