The Azure Dragon is one of the important Divine Beasts in traditional Chinese culture, and it is one of the Four Divine Beasts. These include the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise, each representing the east, south, west, and north directions, respectively. The Azure Dragon symbolizes the east and spring and is associated with the wood element in the Five Elements.
In Chinese mythology and culture, the Azure Dragon is seen as a symbol of auspiciousness, representing strength, good fortune, and protection. It is typically depicted as a dragon with scales, possessing formidable power and a majestic appearance. The Azure Dragon not only holds a significant place in Feng Shui but is also a common theme in many literary works, artistic creations, and architectural decorations.
Furthermore, the Azure Dragon also carries symbolic meaning in astronomy. It is considered to be the collective name for the seven lodges of the east in the twenty-eight lunar mansions, which include the lodges of Horn, Neck, Root, Room, Heart, Tail, and Basket. Thus, the Azure Dragon is not only a mythical creature but also occupies an important position in ancient astrology.
