Northern Continent of Kuru(北俱芦洲):

The Northern Continent of Kuru is located in the saline sea north of Mount Sumeru.

The continent is square-shaped, with each side measuring two thousand yojanas, resembling a box lid. It is surrounded by the Seven Golden Mountains and the Great Iron Encircling Mountains, with a golden ground, and is perpetually illuminated. The land possesses four virtues: equality, tranquility, cleanliness, and thornlessness. The people of this continent have square faces, mirroring the shape of their land, and everyone has the same complexion. Their height is uniformly fourteen feet. Life is equal and blissful here, without worries.

The Northern Continent of Kuru is endowed with various splendid mountains, forests, rivers, bathing pools, parks, and trees bearing fruit.

Tools and objects are often made of gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and crystal, and are collectively owned by all, without robbery, disputes, or conflicts, and there are no thieves, evildoers, or battles. The inhabitants live up to a thousand years, and upon death, they are reborn in either the Trayastrimsha Heaven or the Heaven of Free Time and Transformation, making their karmic rewards the most exceptional among the four continents.

However, due to the absence of a Buddha’s emergence, it is considered one of the eight difficult conditions for studying Buddhism.
