Magical Power(法力):

In Chinese, it is pronounced as: fǎ lì,Written as:

Magical power, a term originally from Chinese, refers to the ability to dispel delusion and subdue demons through religious magic spells. It later came to describe any supernatural divine power, stemming from both Buddhist and Taoist cultures. In the scriptures and myths of Buddhism and Taoism, “magical power” is often used to describe the supernatural abilities possessed by immortals, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, or practitioners. These abilities may include various miraculous powers such as changing form, invisibility, flying, and summoning storms. As an extraordinary force, magical power is generally considered to be acquired through practices such as meditation, observing precepts, and chanting.

In modern Chinese, the term “magical power” is sometimes used metaphorically to describe a strong influence or control. For example, when describing someone with high authority and influence in a particular field, one might say they possess “boundless magical power.”

In Taoism, magical power is an important result of cultivation. Taoist scriptures record many immortals who obtained magical power through practices such as refining elixirs, meditating, and Qi refining. They could perform magic spells, expel evil spirits, and achieve immortality. Taoism pursues the “Unity of Heaven and Humanity,” and through the cultivation of internal and external elixirs, as well as Talismans, practitioners can acquire various magical powers and achieve harmony with nature.
