Fungi

Fungi are eukaryotic, spore-producing, chloroplast-lacking organisms. They include molds, yeasts, mushrooms, and other well-known fungi. As of 2024, approximately 150,000 species of fungi have been discovered and documented by the scientific community, including yeasts, molds, and various types of mushrooms. Fungi are classified in a separate kingdom from animals, plants, and other eukaryotes. Their cells contain chitin and can produce spores through both asexual and sexual reproduction.
